There are plenty of causes that lead to sore eyes, which causes redness in eyes, irritation, pain, and an overall sense of discomfort in the eyes.   • Cucumber therapy

Cucumbers are well known for its cooling effects. Since they provide such cooling effect on our skin and eyes, they work really well on sore eyes. There is a reason why beauticians place slices of cucumber on the eyes when you get a facial done or when a mud pack is applied to the face. It is advisable to soak the cucumber slices in ice cold water for approximately 10 to 15 minutes and then put them on closed eyelids for 15 minutes. Doing this will surely help in healing soreness or eye irritation. Repeat this process every day to see healing effects.

  • Cold water

Our list is incomplete without the mention of cold water. Cold water, as a matter of fact, is one of the best natural home remedies for healing sore eyes in children and adults. All you need to do is wash your eyes with cold water. If needed, you can also use some ice cubes, wrap it in a clean towel, place it on affected eyes.

  • Potatoes

Just like cucumbers, potatoes too are quite helpful in treating sore eyes. Peel and cut a potato into slices. Place the slices in the fridge for 15 minutes. Then, place these chilled slices on the sore eyes for 15 minutes. Follow this remedy every night before going to sleep for at least 2 to 3 days.

  • Drink vegetable juices

Vegetable juice is an inside remedy. You have to drink the juices of raw vegetables such as spinach and carrot for treating sore eyes. Experts recommend that one should drink at least 2 glasses of vegetable juice twice a day for relieving the itchiness in the eyes.

  • Cold milk

Along with cold water, cold milk is a vital home remedy that treats sore eyes effectively. Take a clean cotton swab, dab it in the cold milk, then gently rub it around the sore eyes. Or, you can soak a cotton swab in the cold milk and place it on the sore eyes for a few minutes to avail the cooling effects. Follow this process twice a day for a week at least.

  • Green tea

Most of us are very well aware of the numerous benefits of green tea. One of the benefits also includes relieving the soreness of the eyes due to its anti-inflammatory content. Here, you will need 2 green tea bags, add them to distilled water, and allow it to cool off. With the help of this solution, flush the sore eyes twice daily until the soreness reduces and disappears.

  • Frozen foods

Another distinct way to treat sore eyes is by using the frozen food items. Take any frozen food item and place it in a clean and fresh piece of cloth. Now place the cloth on your sore eyes for at least 10 to 15 minutes. Similar to the ice packs, a frozen food pack will have a soothing effect on your eyes.

  • Cry a little…it works!

Well, that’s right. Nobody likes to cry, but crying does help in relieving the symptoms of sore eyes. That’s because crying helps to lubricate the eyes and also aids in flushing out all the impurities from the eyes. Obviously, not all of us can cry for no reason. So there is a way to create tears naturally. Add a table salt to one liter of distilled water. Now, with the help of a dropper, put this solution into your eyes. This will create a burning sensation, which will help in producing artificial tears in the eyes.
